THAW Orkney (Tackling Household Affordable Warmth) will be visiting Sanday on Thursday 19th May and will be available at Heilsa Fjold from 11am-3pm to offer advice, help and support on heating your home.

If you spend 10% or more of your household income on heating your home, THAW (a registered charity) is able to help with bringing these costs down and will be able to offer a range of assistance, at no cost to the householder, to make your home more affordable to run. Find out more and come along on Thursday 19th May.


Sanday is one of the larger inhabited outer islands of Orkney, which lie off the north coast of Scotland. The island has a population of around 550. There are two main centres of population; Lady Village and Kettletoft.

Sanday has many sandy bays and a fertile agricultural land surrounded by clear, clean sea. Rich in natural and man-made history, Sanday has a wealth of wildlife, heritage and archaeology to offer the interested visitor. The quality of life for its residents is second to none.

Our beautiful island can be reached by sea with Orkney Ferries or by air from Kirkwall on the Orkney Mainland and attracts many tourists from around the globe, as well as those looking to move here for a lifestyle change,
