Park is a former croft at the extreme east of Sanday, close to Start Point Lighthouse. It stands in grazing land close to the bay of Scuthvie, which is one of the finest and most peaceful beaches on the island. As the island narrows here to form a peninsula, the sea is visible in front of the cottage as well as behind it.
We have tried to keep Park's character. It has not been heavily "modernised". Inside, it is simply but comfortably furnished. The sitting / dining room has a multifuel stove which heats radiators throughout the house. The galley kitchen is very well equipped and has a calor gas cooker. There are two bedrooms: one large double with Victorian brass bed and one single. Both beds have duvets and electric blankets. The bathroom has a large bath, washbasin with shaver point above, and lavatory.
Outside, there is a patio and a small fenced garden. There is ample play / parking space. The surrounding land is grazed by sheep.
The rent includes linen and towels as well as fuel for the stove. Calor gas is provided for heating and cooking. Electricity is charged at normal household rates.
Park has a pay phone; TV with teletext; radio; fridge; washing machine etc. It was described by one of the visitors as the best equipped cottage they had ever rented. It also merited mention in both the Rough Guide to Scotland and the Rough Guide to the Highlands and Islands where it is described as "wonderful" - and reasonably priced.
We welcome dogs by arrangement as long as they are well behaved and don't chase sheep or cats.
