Every third year, Sanday hosts the North Isles Sports, and in 2002 it was our turn. Preparations began well in advance, with planning sessions involving representatives of the competing islands and Orkney Islands Council, and with a door-to-door collection to raise funds to lay on the free lunch and tea for all athletes and spectators. June 15th 2004 was a “Sanday Sunday”, and the Cricket Club took advantage of the convenient ferry times to arrange a home match against Stromness. Stromness batted first. They scored 87 altogether.
