Membership of the Trust

A document put before the meeting requested clarification about membership of the Trust. It was agreed that a brief article be published on the Community web site. This will appear shortly in the section of the site that deals with the SDT. In the meantime, the full details are available in the Memorandum and Articles of the Trust – the document may be downloaded from the Orkney Communities site (here) and is also available to view in the school library.

Briefly: all adult residents of Sanday are entitled to be members of the Sanday Development Trust but are not members by default. To become a member, please contact the Trust’s Secretary to request a membership form (this will soon be available for download from this site.) Membership is free. As the SDT is a limited liability company, members are protected and liability in the case of company failure will not exceed £1 per member. Any member may resign from membership at any time by simply indicating their request in writing to the Secretary.
