Sanday Photographers

September 6th, 2009 · by admin · Community

This year’s photography events arranged by our Ranger, Rod Thorne, with the assistance of local artist and photographer Dominique Cameron have been extremely successful and very much enjoyed. (See the Sanday Gallery for some examples of photos taken on the walks) Those attending have found that going out with a group of like-minded individuals has been both supportive and inspirational and that there is some enthusiasm for the idea of a Sanday Photography Group.

The idea exists only as the barest outline at present and input from interested parties is actively being sought.

If you are at all interested in an informal and non-competitive photography group, established to share both inspiration and expertise and to arrange group photography outings, please contact Beth Loft at Little Isegarth in the first instance. Telephone 738 (after 5pm Mon-Fri, any time weekends), or email, or call in when you are passing.

The group would ideally be open to all ages and all experience levels from beginner upwards. Digital or film.

If there is sufficient support for the idea we will arrange an initial meeting to discuss how the group might operate and where/when/how often it might meet.

STOP PRESS: Ranger Event this week! Rod and Dominique have added an extra Photography event to the calendar, to compensate for the very wet and windy curtailed Kettletoft event last week. Meet at 11:00, Friday 11th September, in the car park at Backaskaill Bay, for photographs in the Cross Kirkyard.

Craft Club Reconvenes

September 6th, 2009 · by Beth · Community

It is that time of year again: the nights are drawing in and thoughts turn to more indoor activities – and so it is that the Sanday Craft Club starts its Autumn schedule of meetings on alternate Monday evenings, beginning on Monday September 7th.

We meet in the Community Room at the School from 7:30pm until 9:30pm.

Whatever craft you enjoy, bring your current project along to work on and to be admired by all present. There will be plenty of conversation and the usual refreshments.

Do you have a project that is vexing you? Something you are stuck on or need a fresh eye to help you in the right direction? Craft Club members embrace many crafts and there will certainly be somebody present who can offer help or advice  if needed and get that project rolling again.

Maybe there’s a craft that you have always wanted to learn. Why not come along and ask if anyone can teach you what they already know?

Now, where else could you get so much for a measly £1?

Do come along and have fun. We’ll have the kettle on.
